I know it has been a while, since I have been on this forum. But it has been a summer with ups and downs.
As already told in this topic welshcobs.proboards67.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=614 we weren't very successful in breeding this year.
The only good news on the breeding side is that Sublime got his stallion license with the WPCV
He covered 2 mares : Lovely (a chestnut WelshCob/Haflinger cross) and our Daisy.
Some videos can be seen on my youtube account : www.youtube.com/user/YsewynWelshCobs
But showing was very successful this year.
We started in spring with Sublime. He entered in 3 shows and was each time placed 1st in his class :
- WPCV Premium Show (Houten - Netherlands) - 26-04-08
- Welsh Belgium Memorial Rudy Landuyt (Maldegem - Belgium) - 11-05-08
- Ponykeuring Mario Vervaeck (Maldegem - Belgium) - 14-06-08
The last show was an open class for ponies up to 1m48 (no matter what breed, sex, age, ...)
The pony that was 2nd was an adult Welsh Cob stallion ;D
Some photographs of Sublime at show.
After his 3 shows, we've let him enjoy summer in the field with his friend (a 2y.o. Haflinger gelding).
Ysewyn Dame Heather (aka Epona) only entered one show, because we think she is not mature enough compared to ponies of her age. Maybe this is due to the fact that she was born a month to early or maybe it's because we haven't forced her in any way and she is growing up the "natural way".
She entered the National Championship of Welsh Belgium (Wortegem-Petegem) on 10-08-08 and was placed 3rd in a very strong class.
Some photographs of her :
Our 7 year old mare Rhanwid Daisy did very well at shows this year. Her results in the class "mares section D 4 year old or older" were :
- International show by Welsh Belgium (Gavere - Belgium) 13-07-08 - 1st place
- National Championship Welsh Belgium (Wortegem-Petegem) 10-08-08 - 3rd place
- International show by Welsh Belgium (OLV-Waver) 16-08-08 - 1st place
Some photographs :
For as far as planning ahead with ponies is possible, we plan to focus on breeding next year.
We hope Daisy will give us a nice buckskin filly (by Sublime) next year and hope that Sublime can start his career as a stud (we already have 2 reservations )
The only show we are planning to enter next year is the "International Welsh Pony & Cob show" in Kootwijk (Holland) on 22-aug-09.
We hope Sublime will continue his show record of this year and will be placed 1st again.
Hope to get online more often again ;-)
Stefan.
P.S. Sorry for the long post.
