i feel it went OK, we had already loaded lorry on Wednesday morning so only had to load what i had needed - stable rug, feed bins went up to new yard to unload, i don't have much stuff but as I've not replaced any1 just filled the spare stable my stuff is not all in 1 place!! Got given my yard keys for tack room & store room & tried to put my stuff in suitable places.
we put the bed down after only cost us £5 & includes all straw for this week - when its the winter you pay extra for hay/straw but its all inc
e.g.
if your horse is bedded on shavings you would pay an extra £5 per week for as much hay as you want. total cost £25 +bedding
if your horse is bedded on straw you would pay an extra £5 per week for as much hay & another £5 per week for as much straw as you need. total cost £30
N.B. stable/facilities rent is £20 per week
which is exactly what i was paying at other yard when he was in most of the time. it also means i can deep litter but dig out once or twice each week as i wont need to worry about how much straw I'm using/paying for.
so anyway back on track, we then went back to get Linx, we just tied him up outside whilst we removed his bedding & rinsed stable out with jeyes fluid then got him booted up to go, he took a while to load as we haven't been in lorry for a few months.
set off & got to new yard (luckily the rain held off during the journey) unloaded him & put him straight in the stable whilst we put the carriage, cleaned stable rugs & other bits & bobs in the lorry. i checked on him then left him to settle in.
i went back up about 2hrs later & tied outside him up gave him a brush over unfortunately another bout of rain arrived just as i started to muck out so i ran over & put his turnout on to stop him getting wet but ten the rain got really heavy & i took him into the barn stables where you can walk through & tie up in the large barn. he was a little reluctant at first but the finally gave in i was a little worried about him being round there on his own but i managed to calm him down & went to quickly skip out the stable.
the rain then stopped & i had finished stable so i took him round to the school quickly to have some time on the lunge as due to the horrendous weather i hadn't turned out at the old yard that morning, he was quite good we only really did walk/trot but he was looking more than anything & it was only so i could get his gut going - to reduce risk of him colicing. we then went back to yard & i tucked him into bed.
SO that was our day yesterday.will update hopefully (she crosses fingers) get pics!!
