Hi Bex, I went to the Sale at builth Wells a couple of weeks ago. Prices were varied, colt's are nearly always cheaper. I know of a local Breeder who sold a nicely bred clolt for £480!. I bought a 'Fronarth' filly for £3000 - I rather surprised myself! If you knew what you wanted and studied the catalogue before, you may have come away with a good un for not to much, but of course it depend's on whether everyone else want's the same as you. I would say the average price for a foal was about £1000, the ridden ones were more money, but again it is dependant on what everyone else want's. Hope that helps

Thanks very much for that info,I've since found a website"welshwelshcobs" which was very interesting it listed all the lots and prices there were some good pics 2!It's strange you should say you bought a fronarth filly, me and my husband visited the fronarth stud a week before the sale and saw all there horses I particularly liked a filly foal they had"fronarth golden queen" I think was her name, Its probably the one you bought!Lucky Lucky You! would love to see some pics of her. Do you have any other cobs?

Hi Bex, yes it was Fronarth Golden Queen that I bought!!!. She has the sweetest temperament I could wish for and have high hopes for her. I have got a TB/section D as well as the filly . I got into the cobs because of my TB croos - he has the cleverist/cheekiest personality that I have ever come across and love the action and versatility as well. We go to the Royal Welsh every year and I decided that I needed a cob for myself. I chose Fronarth for a visit and liked the people, so I decided that as I was a newcomer to cob's, I would buy one from them and hope for the best. I really wanted a colt, but persuaded myself that I should be sensible and get a Filly as they are so much easier ( the colt will materialise in time though). How strange that you should have looked at the same Filly !! Are you living in wales?

Yes I'm from North wales, how about you?I think you definately did the right thing buying the fronarth filly! are you planning to show her? I'm sure whatever you do with her you will do well. I have a Brynmelys filly(yearling) and a 3yr old arab gelding, in my time I've owned several sec d's and they are my passion but my arab really is very special! he has the most wonderful temperment and his ridden work is progressing nicely hes very quiet for a 3yr old and not at all flighty which is the reputation they have! Unfortunately we dont have much land so 2 is the maximum I can have really, otherwise I'd have fields full of cobs!

Hi all, I live in Pembrokeshire (south wales). I do plan to show my new filly and eventually breed from her. I love Arab's, I used to have a TB cross and loved him to bit's. I am trying to get some pics onto this site but can't quite see how to do it - if anyone has any suggestions I will be grateful. I looked at that welshwelshcob site, it's very good isn't it? I hadn't seen it before you said. compiled with a passion by the looks of it!

Hi Mary What a small world! The two you got sound lovely and obviously are going to make a good height. The Brynmelys filly I have is by Brynmelys Ieuan Evans(who is by Ebbw Viscount)and her dam is Brynmelys Gloryanna(by Ebbw Victor) She too is going to make a good height 15 hh at least. I beleive her dam Gloryanna was at the sales. Whats the dam of your Brynmelys colt?
