My D-mare Rhanwid Daisy (OS) is into foal to Geler Ryan.
Since the stallion is subscribed in the WPCS studbook and my mare originaly has a WPCS passport (OS), I can choose whether I'll ask a WPCS passport or a Welsh Belgium passport for the foal to be born. Therefore though I have to become a member of the WPCS too (I'm only a member of Welsh Belgium now). I understood that - even if I ask for a Welsh Belgium passport - I could still change it in a WPCS passport afterwards. So do you think it's worth the hassle (and money) to go for a WPCS passport or not ? In other words would it add in value if a foal had a WPCS passport, would it be easier to sell ?

Hiya, i would say go for a WPCS passport, not sure wether it would make a difference which 1 you go with, but if the foal was sold 2 say wales, the new owner would proberly apply 4 a WPCS . Not sure if this helps but thats what id do x

i think at the end of the day its personal choice the foal is still registered with a welsh society, and personally i dont think that it will affect a sale if they dont have a wpcs passport, if the person wants to by your horse it should be because of the pony at the end of the day, not the passport! and if they are really bothered about not having the wpcs passport they should be willing to get one themselves, if they want the horse that much. so i think you should go with what you think, its not like you wont be able to apply for one further down the line if you change your mind never seen horses advertised because of their passports to be honest, wouldnt think it would be a problem hope that makes sense hannah xxx

Thank you both for your replies. I've asked it also on another message board and they said WPCS, because it's the 'mother'-studbook, but then again I think Rosiehannah has a good point too... Well, we'll see. I still have some time to decide. Daisy's new foal is only due mid-May 2008 (if she's not a month early this time).
