Hi guys, So i have finally found a good saddle for my girl, but she is still not happy......enter the bitless bridle! I have heard good things about them and have ordered one on a 30 day trial.
Anyone had any experience with them?

I'm not experienced with bitless bridles but I love lozenge bits.I always wanted to try one(although Tigs was ok in his happymouth) but most are loose ring snaffles and I prefer eggbutts, then I stumbled on a barnsby training bit which is an eggbutt and it is fanastic,Tigs practically puts his bridle on his self and goes very well in it.So if you don't like the bitless bridle if you haven't tried a lozenge bit,it's worth a go:)but I hope the bitless goes well

No experience with bitless bridles... but I'd love to hear your experience, 'cause I am thinking about using one in the future as well... I do have experience with treeless saddles... they are just perfect for me and my cob...

never used one or seen one used, dont think you get many of them around, a bit of a rarity, especially as you cant use them for showing and dressage as far as i know ;D think they are most commonly used for endurance? may be wrong though. let us know how you get on...you may be starting a trend ;D

The new breed of bitless bridles can be brilliant - you need to get into the swing of how to use them but they are a great tool for the right situation, many many horses are going very well in them. Especially for headshakers if the trigeminal nerve is involved as a bit presses on that.
Take it gently at first and don't give up if you meet strangeness at first!
As for treeless saddles - I have a Fhoenix for my connie and we love it - would always prefer to use one now - and as a Bowen therapist I can see the physical benefit as well.

hey, thanks for the replies...so I went for a 4 mile ride today in my bitless bridle and Maisie was very comfortable in it...although have to say that she thought it was great and decided to spin around whilst I was mounting and I fell straight off her! cheeky thing!
so i got on her...eventually..after she had stopped messing around (!) and we got going, she thought about running through the bit until she realised there was no bit and then relaxed...she was a bit more naughty than usual but still listened and had good brakes!
so good results all and all...its just this mounting thing we gotta get over, she fidgets normally-anyone else have this problem? and are there any solutions??
fizzbw-i love my treeless, got a german freeform, very comfortable although it slips which is just annoying!
anyway love to hear from you guys soon.

i have a fidget ;D sometimes hes walking off before ive even tried getting on, othertimes when im half way on lol ;D. when we were out the other day he kept trying to spin round and go backwards cause he didnt want to wait lol ;D think the only way through it is patience so they eventually get bored of it lol ;D good to hear you had a good result from the bitless bridle ;D

hey guys, well had a shock last night..thought maisie had first signs of laminitis!-swollen crest and warmth in a front foot. I panicked, and got the vet out...turns out it is not but could be an abcess. she is on bute for the next couple of days and if she dont get better then i have to call vet again. so glad it is not laminitis though. Today when i put her out, she wasnt lame and seemed brighter-started cantering around the field!!!! so i didnt ride her today but if she is still looking bright then might gofor a short ride tomorrow.
i was so worried!!!
