hey hannah, I dont think that looks like ringworm, see below for photo of what it normally looks like. I think it shold be 'crusty' *ugh* and dark. That looks like irritation of some sort, have you changed his feed or recently washed his rugs or him in a new shampoo? a friends horse is allergic to barley and carrots ad comes up in this bumpy rash but horses react diff so ask your step dad what he is feeding him and if he could be a bit sensitive. Have you tried treating it with aloe vera, maise had a huge swollen fly bite and i used this pure aloe vera gel and it cleared it well. it is also suitable for rashes and is very soothing if he is itchy. hope this helps and hope he feels better lotte x x x x

we had a horse on our yard last year who came out in lumps and bumps and was really itchy, had the vet out, took scrapes, tested negative for ringworm. didnt get better, diff vet came out, took a skin biopsy and it turned out to be a bacterial skin infection, has he been tested for that as well? never actually seen ringworm though.
hope he gets better soon

Hi there, definately look like ringworm to me, our Section A had it last year and it looked very similar. You have to clean everything with ringworm, wood in stable, tack, rugs, brushes, everything as it lives in anything porous. It's no good just treating the horse.
We got something from the vet, cost about £15 for 2 treatments. Makes a spray and you spray the horse and everything it has been in contact with. It cleared up totally in about 2 weeks. i just cant remember what they call it!

Sorry theres more! - you have to quarentine the horse as it's highly infectious.
